Finding Neverland in art I decided to reach deep into music with my paintbrush. I listen and can see the emotions and transfer what I hear on a piece of canvas. It has been a journey, a new way of seeing something that is meant to be heard. Seal Acrylic on Canvas 5" x 7" JoAnne Helfert Sullam In this small work I took the artist Seal 1994 self-tilted album Seal. I wanted to "Bring It On"the first track from the album; a song that felt like it should have strong color and shape to it. But as I closed my eyes to gather my pallet for the small work I found a softer side of grays, blues and yellows. This was a surprise and that’s what I love about creating and sharing my art. It sort of like finding a new Neverland were you are young and everything is new. A new interpretation, a new inner landscape, that I can share. When I listen to what others see and feel it opens a new door and we can connect on a different plane, one that is felt, through the visual and the energy of art; an universal language of shared emotions that makes making art profound and meaningful.
