A Creative- wellness Retreat That Invites your inner child out to play I have always been a teacher. I didn’t plan it that way, yet it happened. I planned on being a working artist. It was like driving down the road to a fixed destination and you make a wrong turn. Or was it?Some say we are always where we’re supposed to be. I looked at those turns as a way to explore. I would stop at a shop that caught my eye or even buy something new. Then I would remember that I was hungry and I would get lost trying find a restaurant but wind up finding a new place to go too! There was so much I learned along the way, that although was not part of my life plan, like finding that restaurant, was amazing and I am glad I took the detour.I love trying something new and I love sharing what I found. I remember when I first started working on the Martha Steward show. It was five in the morning and she was teaching ( I think it was one of the landscapers) how to make a perfect cappuccino. The last time I saw her it was late at night and almost everyone was gone. I stop in the kitchen of the set to say goodby and to let her know I be dropping her canaries off at her house on my way home. There she was teaching someone (one of the chefs? ) how to make a perfect pie crust. I thought at the time that Martha was, at her core, a teacher. I wondered while she was growing her empire of magazine, TV show and products and baking a cake too pretty to eat, if she stumbled upon it as I did about myself. We both love animals and she called me the bird wrangler. She gave me a canary and the plans to a very cool canary house that she designed and which I have yet to build. I learned so much from her, much more than what she taught. It was how she live and worked so hard, yet was always excited like a child discovering and then sharing something new. I didn’t know until now how all I loved and all those detours would take me to this place in my life. A place where I can share what I learned and help others find out more about themselves and get back to the core of who they are and knew as a child. This new idea grew from my desire to share my love of art and the outdoors and have it make me feel like a care free child full of wonder. “I thing sometimes you have to wait too you are a grownup before you can be the kid you where meant to be.” I call it Creative AirI been thinking about it and it is so much more that an artistic adventure.I want to bring people back to a simple time where you are looking up from computers, cell phones and reality TV into fresh air and mysteries and the beauty of nature.I recently enlisted my dear friend, Holistic Wellness Therapist, Linda CafieroShe has over 20 years experience in private practice and facilitating stress reduction and wellness workshops. She has one of those voices that make your shoulders drop back down in place and relax just by saying Hello. She is going to join me and adding another level to some of the Creative Air Retreats. We are scouting locations and even a tour bus for some adventures to beautiful places and a day to remember. I want people to be able to disconnect and reconnect with themselves and nature while exploring their inner child that paints carefree and just enjoys the process. I am so excited by this I can hardly contain myself and it’s how I know I am on the right road and together, with others willing to try something new.
