About the Artist

 

JoAnne Sullam’s  Paintings & Sculptures

Have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and cultural centers, including Brookgreen Sculpture Gardens,Pawleys Island, South Carolina;Woodstock Artists Museum,Woodstock,NY, the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn, New York; the Enrico Cultural Center in The Bronx, New York; Lever House in New York City; Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York; Chelsea Center in Muttontown, New York; and Ariel Fine Art in Locust Valley, New York. 

Sullam is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including Special Congressional Recognition for Work in the Arts by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton;

A Commendation in the Arts and a Certificate of Achievement in the Arts from Nassau County, New York; Award of Excellence, from the Visual Art Alliance of Long Island NY,

and an Award of Merit from the Huntington Arts Council in Huntington, New York. 
 
She also has received  grants from the Long Island Arts Council. In addition, Sullam’s work is in the collection of the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center in Oyster Bay, New York .

Ms Sullam has been active in a number of animal organizations and spent many years in the television industry, working with people like;

Martha Stewart, Mark Morrone (“Mark Morrone’s Pet Keeping Show”), and Jim Fowler  (“Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom”), and has interviewed personalities like Richard Gere, Bobby Kennedy Jr. and concert pianist/animal activist, Helene Grimaud.

Sullam had produced a local cable show on Art and Conservation, writes about the human/animal connection, and has does regional lectures on the topic.  She is also a certified Animal Rehabilitator, and residence in her upstate New York home.
